The HON. LYNDA BELL has been married to Mark for thirty-nine years. She has three married daughters and 12 grandchildren whose ages range from 7 – 27 years. Former Gov. Rick Scott appointed her to serve on the Florida Communities Trust where she served 6 years. She is the president of Florida Right to Life, where she lobbies for the state organization, and is the Florida delegate to the National Right to Life board of directors, where she serves as the chairman of the board. Lynda Bell was recently recognized as one of the 100 most powerful women in Florida. She was number 25 out of 100.
Lynda was a Miami Dade County Commissioner where she served as the vice chairman of the board. She was elected Vice Mayor of Homestead in 2003 and Mayor of Homestead in 2007, making her the first and only woman mayor in the city’s 111-year history. In 2015 Lynda graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in supervision and management from the Miami Dade College School of Business. She has won numerous awards. In 2012, in honor of Women’s History Month, Lynda received awards for “Women First: Miami Women Who Led the Way,” “In the Company of Women,” and the “American Society for Public Administration.” She received the Athena Award from the Chamber of Commerce. She has had her name read into the congressional record and has debated and continues to debate many issues for Florida Right to Life, including the authorization for the Choose Life license plate, embryonic stem cell research, euthanasia, ultrasound, parental rights and partial-birth abortion. She has appeared on many local and national television and radio programs. Lynda co-teaches an adult Sunday school class with her husband, Mark. They attend Corinth Baptist
